Plastics have only been around for slightly more than a century, but they have permeated practically every area of our life. Plastic materials are everywhere in 21st-century life, from children's toys to food packaging. In fact, 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic have been created in around 70 years, with approximately 6.3 billion metric tons of that garbage.

And only 9% of it has been recycled. What is the process for recycling plastics?
