WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MY COMPANY IF I COLLABORATE WITH PLASLIFE?
Implementation of design for recycling and use of recyclates by brands
Brands are becoming more mindful of how their product designs can restrict recycling. Furthermore, the usage of recyclates improves the CSR image among consumers; as a result, an increasing number of firms are turning to design for recycling standards and sourcing recyclates as raw materials.
Plastic items with refined designs can serve the markets for longer periods of time, and as these products become more easily recyclable, their life cycles become longer and more lucrative. Furthermore, adjusting to new designs has the potential to significantly reduce Extended Producer Responsibility expenses.
Increased awareness
among consumers and businesses
The general public and businesses are becoming more aware of the challenges as several publications portray the degree of plastic pollution in the environment. Unsustainable plastic items and waste management practices are being scrutinized. Consumers are increasingly voicing their opinions and favoring ecologically friendly items.
As awareness grows, demand for items containing recycled content is projected to outstrip demand for products generated purely from virgin materials, offering tremendous opportunity for recycling markets to grow.
About 70 per cent of people in Singapore do not fully understand what plastics to recycle, resulting in the majority of plastic products being disposed of as general waste, according to a report released by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) on Thursday (Aug 30).
“The 44,200 tonnes collected by public waste collectors work out to about 2 per cent of the 2.1 million tonnes of waste generated by the domestic sector in 2016.”
